Image to sprite sheet

Pack PNG, WebP or JPG frames into a transparent PNG grid. Set the order and spacing, then download your sheet.

Real packed output · Original-size frames · Transparent background

From individual frames to a finished file

Six frames, one clean grid

Our six-frame example starts with six separate 256 × 256 PNG frames. Three columns turn them into a 768 × 512 sheet, with the casting sequence reading across each row. The artwork stays at its original size. The checkerboard marks transparent space; it is not part of the download.

Use this image to sprite sheet converter when your frames are already drawn and you need them together in one file. Choose your images, arrange the sequence, and check the result before saving. Everything needed for a regular grid is on this page.

Your artwork stays yours

Original art, predictable cells

A carefully drawn pixel should land exactly where you expect it. Packing does not resize, rotate or trim your images. Each source is drawn at its original dimensions, so a 32 × 32 frame still occupies 32 × 32 pixels in the exported PNG.

Every cell uses the widest and tallest dimensions in your selection. Smaller images sit in the center, with transparent room around them. This gives you consistent rectangles to slice or address later. For animation, exporting equal canvas sizes from your art app first makes it easier to keep a character’s position consistent across frames.

How to use the image to sprite sheet tool

  1. Choose your frames

Select several PNG, WebP or JPG files, or drop them into the upload area. You can mix these formats in one selection. Once they open, the file list shows each image’s dimensions and position. Add more frames to the same batch whenever you need them.

  2. Set the sequence and grid

Move a frame earlier or later with the arrow buttons, remove an unwanted image, or sort by filename. Numbered names such as run-1, run-2 and run-10 sort numerically. Choose the column count, then adjust outer padding and the gap between cells while watching the preview update.

  3. Download the finished sheet

Check the frame order and the output dimensions beside the preview. Download PNG to save the sheet. Download JSON as well if your workflow needs names and coordinates. Keep your source images: refreshing this page clears the working selection, and Clear all starts a fresh batch.

Layout without guesswork

A grid that matches your project

The image to sprite sheet layout reads left to right, then starts the next row. Changing the number of columns changes the sheet’s shape, while keeping your chosen frame order.

Columns
Set how many cells fit across. Eight frames in four columns make two rows. An unfinished last row has transparent empty cells.
Outer padding
Add a transparent border around the whole sheet. This is separate from the space between frames.
Gap
Add transparent pixels between neighboring cells. This separates frames without changing the images inside them.

For example, eight 32 × 32 frames in four columns, with 2 pixels of outer padding and a 1 pixel gap, produce a 135 × 69 PNG. Match those same margin and spacing values when slicing it in your editor.

Animation frames and asset collections

Keep an action in reading order

Bring together a walk cycle, an attack or a short effect drawn as separate files. A regular sheet gives you a single texture to work with. Set playback speed and looping in your animation tool or game project; the packer only arranges the frames you supply.

Put related artwork on one sheet

An image to sprite sheet workflow also works for static assets. Group character portraits, inventory images or interface states into equal cells, as shown here. Pick a cell size that suits your project before export if your destination needs a specific tile size.

A PNG sheet, with optional JSON

Every image to sprite sheet export includes a downloadable PNG. Existing transparency is preserved, and added spacing stays transparent. You can use the image wherever your workflow accepts a regular sprite grid.

PNG: the artwork

Import the sheet into your editor or project, then define its rows, columns, margins and spacing. Check the cell dimensions before slicing. The preview background is only there to help you see the edges of transparent images.

JSON: names and rectangles

The optional file records sheet dimensions, frame names, cell rectangles and each image’s position inside its cell. It is a general coordinate reference for your own code or conversion step, rather than an engine-specific atlas importer. It contains no animation timing.

Before you pack

Is the image to sprite sheet tool free?

Yes. Packing and both downloads are free, without an account or credits. Your selected files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to a server. This page does not save them to a SpriteFuse project.

Can I mix transparent PNGs with JPG images?

Yes. PNG and WebP transparency stays transparent; JPG backgrounds remain opaque. Packing does not remove backgrounds. Animated PNG or WebP inputs contribute one still image, not their full animation.

Why does my character move between cells?

Centering the image canvas does not align the character inside it. If the original frames use different pivots or positions, adjust them in your drawing app before packing. The tool does not reposition individual subjects.

What if my files are too large?

Use up to 100 frames, 10 MB each and 50 MB total. Source images together and the output sheet each have a 16 million pixel limit, with an 8192 pixel maximum side. Reduce dimensions or split the batch if needed. A rejected addition keeps your existing frames.

What if I have a GIF or an existing sheet?

Use GIF to sprite sheet to extract animation frames. To split a sheet back into individual files, open the sprite sheet cutter. If you need artwork first, the separate AI sprite sheet generator creates frames through its own account and credit workflow.
